Illusione Cigares Prive Corojo Robusto in Review ""Autumnal" is the Thinking Man's Pumpkin Spice"

Kaplowitz · Oct 2, 2020

Spiced cream | Pine nuts | Sweet cedar A middleweight, rehydrated & bulked up to cruiserweight come fight-night. Well-rounded & smoothly delivered. Sweet cream body & flavors. Delineating cedar is sweet, thin but stoic. A butterscotch note trails there. Pine nuts help enforce border & also lend a softened pignoli cookie. Spices are quite autumnal. "Autumnal" is the thinking man's pumpkin spice. Undertones are plush-heavy & pale-ish leather... a workboot suede, say. Sweet hay underfoot. White pep

Illusione Cigares Privé Corojo Prensado Suave

Halfwheel · Mar 24, 2017 · July 2016

I have smoked a very large number of Illusione cigars over the years, and have found the vast majority of them to range from very good to legendary. The Illusione Cigares Privé Corojo falls short of the latter, but it toes the line nicely. The profile is quite complex with a great creamy peanut and cedar combination dominant for most of the cigar, along with some raisin sweetness that—while not a major component at any point—is strong enough to have a positive impact on the blend. Construction was excellent overall, and the end, the new Illusione Cigares Privé Corojo is a wonderful addition to an already great line-up.

Illusione PCA Exclusive

Cigar Aficionado · Nov 24, 2020 · Cigar Insider

Well-made with an oily, toothy wrapper, this box-pressed cigar burns evenly. Tangy wood, bread dough and a touch of cedar culminate in a rich, resonant finish of cereal and fresh tobacco. There is slight resistance to the draw.

Illusione TAA Exclusive 2021

Cigar Coop · Feb 6, 2023

In 2021, Illusione Cigars would release its first cigar to the Tobacconists Association of America (TAA)’s Exclusive Series. There were 13 different manufacturers that produced 15 different cigars for the 2021 TAA Exclusive Series, but the only manufacturer that participated for the first time in the series would be Illusione Cigars. Today we take […] Key flavors: Bread, Natural Tobacco, Citrus, Baker’s Spice, Wood, Pepper.

Illusione 2021 TAA Exclusive

Developing Palates · Jan 24, 2022 · September 2021

The Illusione 2021 TAA Exclusive had a promising start with a complex and nuanced medley of flavors that you can often get from Illusione blends. The second third couldn't maintain the same level of complexity, and the last third was largely earth driven and monotonous. There are so many brilliant Illusione offerings that I would find myself reaching for instead of the 2021 TAA.

Illusione Cigares Privé

CigarCzars · Sep 18, 2020

This cigar is an Illusione Cigares Privé Lancero special blend. Cigares Privé simply means Private Cigars. The Lancero size is ~7” with a ring gauge of 40. The cigar was made by Aganorsa Cigar Company for Illusione Cigars (Dion Giolito). The tobacco is all from Nicaragua using a Corojo 98 wrapper, Criollo 98 binder and mostly Corojo fillers. All the tobacco is grown at the Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA) in Estelí, Nicaragua. The cigar has a rustic look with some visible leaf veins, no soft spots and a Cubanesque triple cap. It appears to be a very well-constructed cigar. The pre-light aroma reminded me of a pile of freshly fallen Fall leaves from when I lived back in Ohio. As kids, we all played in large leaf piles collected in our yards and there was a special aroma associated with that. The pre-light draw was good for a Lancero and the flavor was like sweet tea. It lit easily and generated a nice amount of smoke. The aromas and flavors now were of fresh ground dark roast coffee and a very bitter dark chocolate, almost like cocoa powder. During the first 3rd, the cigar burned slightly uneven. By the middle 3rd,the unevenness got progressively worse and required a slight touch up. That caused the ash to fall off, but the cigar burned evenly the rest of the smoke. This is a very, very, very slow burning cigar. I checked a clock and it took 1 hour to get to the middle of this cigar. It was nice to see that the flavors and aromas remained consistent even going into the final 3rd. Another 30 minutes went by and it appeared as though the cigar was burning even slower. I ended up putting the cigar down with 2” left, but not because of any wrong, I just had something else to do. This cigar cost me $10.00, and for the 90 minutes of good smoking, it is a good value for an above average priced cigar. I gave it only 4 stars because of the uneven burn. I would definitely buy another.
