As I prepare to write this review I am trying to think of another cigar brand where the name comes before the company and I can think of one. The Pistoff Kristoff got its name from a customer who told owner Glen Case  that he should come out with a cigar called Pissed Off Kristoff and thus a cigar was born.

Lil Pistoff Kristoff

As I mentioned in my opening, I was more concerned about the billing of strength from the Lil Pistoff Kristoff; as someone who has come to sneer at the idea of strength for the sake of strength, I've generally stayed away from such cigars. However, the Lil Pistoff Kristoff does a remarkably good job at not being a one-trick cigar. Case largely delivered on his promise of the cigar having flavor and smoothness, at least about as much is possible when going for a strong cigar. The flavors complement the strength, leaning largely on robust earth, pepper and woods, but they stay fairly consistent throughout the cigar. As for the smoothness, I'm happy to report that it's there more than it isn't, though if you prefer a bit more gruffness and peppery tingle from your cigar, you likely won't be disappointed. While I wouldn't smoke this first thing in the morning, I could easily see wrapping up a week with this and a pour of my favorite whisk(e)y, Scotch or bourbon to put a strong and definitive finish to things.

Cayenne pepper | Patent leather | Black walnut Anise seed & molasses ebb & flow in a pretty neat tandem. Always w/ the cayenne tho, this blend. Rather sharply-so. A punch in the gut, say. Legend has it, a fan of Kristoff cigars approached Kristoff brand founder Glen Case at an in-store event and suggested “Pissed Off Kristoff” for the name of a cigar. The name resonated with Case, who adjusted the spelling to the more tongue-in-cheek and less offensive, “Pistoff Kristoff,” or rather “Kristoff Pistoff,” as many sites that sell the brand prefer to place the brand name first. In any case, the cigar lives up to its name with a feisty recipe of intense, peppery, and sweet tobaccos.
