La Flor Dominicana Coronado Double Toro
Cigar Aficionado · Oct 1, 2023
Big and brawny in appearance, this oily cigar draws and burns evenly. Floral first puffs lead to a nut-and-honey sweetness before hearty notes of oak, earth and leather segue to a coffee-like finish.

Almost exactly one year since I first smoked the re-released La Flor Dominicana Coronado Toro and declared that the blend was indeed back, I stand by that declaration with even more appreciation for the cigar. Time has made it a bit more graceful now than it was originally, but it has not allowed the blend to lighten up on its stronger parts, notably the constant pepper that accents the first half and defines the bulk of the second half. The burn issues with the wrapper seem to be an anomaly but something to be mindful of, thankfully it doesn't detract from the cigar's overall offering. A year later and I'm still glad that the Coronado blend has been salvaged from the annals of history.

Blind Man's Puff · Apr 18, 2016 · August 2015
The Coronado a resurrection of a retired brand, features its original and distinct blend of Dominican fillers and binder complemented by a sun grown Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. It was a highly rated blend the band never featured the LFD logo, and sales reflected that. After being officially discontinued the Coronado officially made it’s comeback at IPCPR 2015 with a new look and name. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The blend has remained the same, using a Nicaraguan sun grown habano wrapper with the binder and filler coming completely from the Estancia La Flor de Palma in La Canela, Dominican Republic. It comes in five sizes, all 18-count boxes: Corona Especial (5 7/8 x 47, MSRP $8.80), Toro (6 x 52, $9.30), Double Corona (7 x 50, $9.30), Double Toro (7 x 54, $9.80) and Corona Gorda (7 x 60, $10.50).

Developing Palates · Jan 24, 2025 · August 2015
The La Flor Dominicana Coronado Corona Especial is a very good cigar that delivers a rich tobacco experience with enough complexity to keep you interested. This cigar has enough punch, but it won't overpower you. The Corona Especial size is an excellent size for this blend. In a lot of ways, it's quintessential, classic La Flor Dominicana. It's a cigar and blend that's overlooked, and it's one I plan on revisiting more in the future.
