Named in tribute to Nashville's rich musical heritage, Montecristo Ciudad de Musica is handcrafted by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic. Wrapped in an oily Ecuadorian Habano leaf over a Nicaraguan binder and Dominican-Nicaraguan fillers, this medium-to-full-bodied smoke strikes harmonious chords of cedar, black pepper, roasted coffee, and vibrant citrus.

I would have to say that this Ciudad de Musica is a hit. It’s always a tall order to build a collaboration between two brands. You hope for greatness and sometimes you get a dud. However, I think this cigar hit all the right notes (it’s also very easy to make puns with when writing so that helps inept reviewers like me). I can’t wait to try some other vitolas of this Ciudad de Musica especially the Piramide. That vitola is one of my favorite shapes and can be hard to pull off but I have a feeling these guys will knock it out of the park. The final word, go track down this cigar right now. Take

Back in 2018, Tabacalera USA, the US premium cigar arm of Altadis U.S.A, teamed up with Crowned Heads to introduce a new line of Montecristo cigars. That line was named Ciudad de Musica or in english “City of Music”. Makes sense eh, since the Crowned Heads headquarters is in Music City – Nashville, TN. This cigar's romantic name had me doubting I could love it anymore than I did before lighting it. But like a band out of tune or a sound system riddled with blown speakers and a bad engineer, the Montecristo Ciudad de Musica quickly falls apart once lit. The biting sourness is brutal on the tongue, and had it not been for the sake of this review, the final two samples would have been in the ashtray before the midway point. This cigar is so odd and off-putting that I’m almost certainly going to try another one just to see if I got unlucky, or if it is actually as bad as the three samples I smoked suggest.

While I wouldn't call the Montecristo Ciudad de Música Robusto a true collaboration between blenders, it is a collaboration between brands and I would say it worked well. If you're a fan of Crowned Heads or E.P. Carrillo, it's a must try and this should be a good attraction for people to the Montecristo brand. This is a cigar well done.
