Flor de las Antillas MAM-13

Leaf Enthusiast · Feb 4, 2014

Last year, word broke in September about a new size of FdlA, called the “MAM-13.” Standing for “Mid-Atlantic Mafia,” this vitola would ship to only 5 stores, all in the general “Mid-Atlantic” region. There would be 500 boxes made (20 cigars in a box), so each store would get 100 boxes. I was happy to see my hope shop–Burns Tobacconist–on the list.

Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary

Holt's Staff Reviews · Feb 1, 2023

I’m smoking an all-new and very rare limited-edition Nicaraguan cigar, Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary. Spoiler alert: order one before you’re done reading today’s review. Only 5,000 total boxes of 12 cigars were produced, and they won’t last long. Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary is available in a single size, a round 6.5-by-52 Toro.

Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2022

Halfwheel · Apr 29, 2023 · January 2023

The profile of the Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary takes virtually no time at all to hit its stride. There is a significant change in the main flavors starting around the time the second third begins. Those flavors include not only an interesting herbal flavor, creamy cashews, roasted espresso beans and cedar on the palate but also a wonderful combination of black pepper and blackberry sweetness on the retrohale. While the $40 price tag will be a detriment to some people, in the end, the Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary hits it big on almost every level: the cigar is flavorful and well-balanced, the packaging is gorgeous and the cigar smokes like a dream when it comes to construction.

My Father Flor De Las Antillas 10th Anniversary

Blind Man's Puff · Apr 26, 2023 · January 2023

Earlier this year, My Father Cigars started finally shipping the the My Father Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary. The cigar was originally shown off at the 2022 PCA trade show and planned to ship the in November, but packaging delays moved the release into Januray of 2023. This cigar, making the 10 years since the release of the original Flor de Las Antillas, comes in just one size, a 6 1/2 x 52 toro. The blend is a Nicaraguan puro and a tweaked blend of the regular production Flor de Las Antillas line. This 10th anniversary edition only uses tobacco grown by the Garcia family. The wrapper is algo a higher priming leaf than the original blend, making it somewhat stronger and darker in apperance. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The My Father Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary has an MSRP of $40.00, making it one of the most expensive My Father cigars ever sold. It comes in individually numbered boxes of 12 of which only 5,000 were made for a total of 60,000 cigars. Each cigar is presented in its own coffin. In addition to the blend and size change, each cigar has a special primary band and a foot ribbon differentiating that it is the limited edition version. The fact that the box contains 12 cigars is an homage to 2012, the year in which the original Flor de Las Antillas line came out. My Father Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary is rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.

My Father Flor de las Antillas Maduro -

Kaplowitz · Jun 18, 2017

Solidly built, firm in hand. Increasingly oily top-leaf lags hither-thither. Notes of Pepin peppers, espresso/semisweet chocolate braced over-top barnyard underbelly by hardwoods and almonds.

My Father ToroFlor de Las Antillas

CigarCzars · Apr 7, 2024

My Father Flor de Las Antillas cigars were introduced back in 2012, with the Toro size (6 x 52) being named the top cigar of the year by Cigar Aficionado. These cigars are box-pressed Nicaraguan puros featuring a Nicaraguan Sungrown wrapper. In 2024, the Toro was selling for around $9 per stick. The sample My Father Flor de Las Antillas Toro cigar began with a modest peppery flavor that started to gradually moderate after the first 5-10 minutes, when a leathery taste began to emerge. After about 30 minutes, the leather became the predominate flavor with the pepper now in the background. After this point, the flavors remained pretty consistent for the remainder of the smoke. The body was medium throughout, but got close to medium-plus near the end. The Flor de Las Antillas Toro was very well made and had a great draw, mostly even burn, and held a long ash. No relights were required during the 65 minutes that it took me to smoke the cigar down to just under two inches remaining. However, one minor touch-up was applied about halfway through the cigar to keep the burn even. Although this cigar received a 96 rating and was ranked Cigar Aficionado's Number One cigar of the year in 2012, it is no longer the gold standard in 2024. A bit of research revealed that the same Toro vitola was rated 89 by Cigar Aficionado in 2022. It isn't easy for any continuously produced cigar to maintain a consistent flavor over many years. Also, premium cigars in general have significantly improved during the last 12 years, and evensomeof the top cigars from the past may no longer be considered outstanding in today's market. However, the Flor de Las Antillas is still a good cigar worthy of a rating of 3.75 points on our 5-point scale. Bonus Pairing:My Father Flor de Las Antillas cigars pair very well with a number of fine libations, includingNumber JuanReposado Tequila. Just in time for the 2023 Christmas holidays, a special promotion by “Number Juan” included a complimentary Flor de Las Antillas Toro with every bottle purchased, probably because the cigar was once ranked “Number One”. By the way, the cigar-smoking comedian Ron White happens to be part owner of “Number Juan”. Flor de Las Antillas Cigar& Number Juan Tequila

My Father Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary

Developing Palates · May 8, 2023 · January 2023

I wasn't blown away by the My Father Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary. I have never been crazy on the line, but I would have expected more with this being a 10th Anniversary blend. Of course, it could be because I just was not one for the line from the get go. However, I have found My Father to do very well with anniversary cigars, even if I did not enjoy the core line blend as much as I cared for the limited offering.
