Cigar Aficionado · Jan 1, 2026
If time travel were a reality, a curious cigar smoker could make the voyage back to September 1964 and walk into an extremely modest cigar factory in Miami’s Little Havana. He would see two men, one of them rolling cigars, the other the owner of the tiny operation. The cigars for sale cost a quarter apiece. There was no hint at what was to become of this quite small undertaking, no clue that this nascent brand would one day be among the world’s best-known and most critically-acclaimed cigars. That owner was José Orlando Padrón, a man who grew up on a tobacco farm in Pinar del Río, Cuba. He was raised around cigars, and his grandmother had a little table in the house where she would roll cigars for the family, using the tobacco leaves they grew. When he was seven, he had his first job in the fields, cleaning the seedbeds. Hard work would be a part of his entire life. He left Cuba in 1961 for a better life, going first to Spain, and later to the United States. He worked various jobs until 1964, when he opened that small factory. It’s possible not even he could have imagined how successful that company would become. The brand he created more than six decades ago now stands, once again, on top of the cigar world. Today, his descendants, led by his son Jorge, run the company. And as the 60th anniversary of the brand approached, Jorge and his team set out to make a commemorative cigar. It’s superb. The Padrón 60th Anniversary Perfecto is only the second perfecto shape the Padróns have ever commercially released. Perfectos are not easy to roll, tapering at both the head and the foot. This particular one is a delight to the eye, graceful in its curvature, with a chocolate brown wrapper. When you light one up, you might become wide-eyed at the intensity of flavor that immediately hits your palate. It’s a rich smoke, stronger than many Padróns. Once you work your way through the narrow foot, the draw opens up and the flavor parade truly begins. Here comes malted milk. Next, the creamy coffee like a café au lait, then the chocolate. It’s one of those tremendous cigars that reveals a bit more of itself as it slowly burns, inch by inch, and just keeps getting better. It’s considerably hard to put one down.

Padrón 60th Anniversary
Holt's Staff Reviews · Jan 3, 2025
When the first shipments of Padrón 60th Anniversary cigars began trickling in, they flew off the shelves in our humidor. This impressive Salomon has become an even hotter commodity since the critics at Cigar Aficionado bestowed their prestigious ‘Cigar of the Year’ honors upon it, marking the fifth such title for the Padrón brand. I’m savoring this blend in a Natural wrapper leaf for today’s review. Padrón has released several legendary cigars to commemorate significant milestones over its sixty-year history, and the 60th Anniversary stands out as one of the best.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
Padrón 1926 Serie Maduro
Cigar Snob · Jan 8, 2026
Padron is no stranger to these lofty rankings. The 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo took home Cigar of the Year in 2019, and just last year the 1964 Maduro torpedo claimed the No. 3 spot. The family’s commitment to aging tobacco a minimum of five years and keeping production quantities low ensures that quality is always the priority. This year, it was the 1926 Serie Maduro No. 6, scoring 93 points, that stood out to our panel.

On June 10th, 2016, Padrón Cigars patriarch and founder José O. Padrón celebrated his 90th birthday. A few weeks later at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show, Padrón Cigars launched a cigar to commemorate the occasion with the Padrón 1926 Serie No. 90. The No. 90 is an extension to the popular Padrón 1926 Serie line. It is not a typical […] Key flavors: Earth, Cedar, Chocolate, Black Cherry, Black Pepper.

Padrón 1926 Serie TP40
Halfwheel · Jun 9, 2013
While I usually gravitate towards the 1964 blend when smoking Padróns, the Padrón 1926 Serie TP40 is a wonderful example of the 1926 releases. In fact, while I have never found Padróns to be overly-complex, this is a great example of any number of attributes: a wonderful classic Nicaraguan profile, excellent construction and perfect balance between flavors and strength. The price is definitely an issue, but if you are looking for a Padrón 1926 in this format, you really can't go wrong.

Last November, Famous Smoke Shop announced that it would be selling an exclusive 75th Anniversary edition of the Padrón 1926 Serie. Famous 75th Padrón 1926 Series cigars are made in one size, a 5″ x 54 box-pressed robusto rolled in two wrapper choices – Nicaraguan Habano natural or Nicaraguan Habano maduro. Presented in boxes of 10 cigars, these puros are made with 5-year-aged Nicaraguan tobaccos. Only 3,000 boxes have been made, and like all Padrón Anniversary Cigars, they will have individual, serial-numbered cigar bands. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience.

The 1926 Serie Maduro appears to be constructed beautifully, and the band is all class. There's both an elegance and simplicity to it that's just cool. A subtle barnyard and a pleasant sweet cherry provide enjoyable aromas from the foot and wrapper. An excellent cherry leads the pack from light up. Oak and cream join in, and the 1926 brings it all with an effortless draw. The smoke output matches the pe

The Padrón 1926 Serie Maduro No. 2 had a nice flavor combination centered around toasted oak and earth with a supporting black pepper. Some coffee joined in which added another nice supporting component. I definitely prefer this maduro version to the natural and would be the one I gravitate towards if given the choice. The price point is high, but if it's something you enjoy, you'll find the funds for it.
