Punch Egg Roll
Leaf Enthusiast · Apr 26, 2019
The Punch Egg Roll almost didn’t happen…but it really packs a flavor wallop in a small, affordable package.

While this could be dismissed as a gimmick cigar, I found it to be anything but. The flavors are rich, developed and balanced, the construction is excellent and the overall experience of each of the three cigars far exceeded my expectations. While we don't take price into account in reviews, the fact that this has an MSRP of $3.99 is even more impressive, as I've smoked cigars with zeros after that amount that don't match what the Punch Egg Roll delivers. For a medium-full bodied cigar that takes just under an hour to smoke, this is a fantastic option, and one I have no hesitation to encourage checking out.

Some exposed binder leaf protrudes from the foot of this cigar. Notes of lemon peel, walnut, oak and dried pine needle turn tangy on the finish. The burn and draw are uneven.

Sweet Malt | White Pepper | Clay Loam Soil A rising throughout (but never high-up) citrus lilts-lifts the white pepper. Feels like someone ordered this with no MSG. Still a pleasant cigar, excellent for those with sensory hypersensitivities. Draws a tick-plus tight, and a toothpick/massage combo loosens it enough but not all the way. Ash is a proud grower. Smoke out-put increases via progression from moderate to more-than, although aroma remains muted. A quite-slow rate of speed. No fast movemen

All the way back in 2019, Punch released the Egg Roll (4-1/2″ x 50). It was their first release celebrating the Chinese New Year. Since then, they have released one each year. Instead of naming their releases after the Chinese Zodiac animals, Punch has opted for naming them after different elements of Chinese culture and...

Punch Egg Roll XL is a limited-edition cigar created to celebrate the 2026 Chinese New Year. It is made in Honduras with the same blend as the original but smaller Egg Roll released in 2019; a USA Broadleaf wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and a blend of Dominican, Mexican, Colombian and USA filler tobaccos. Like the original, the new Punch Egg Roll XL also has a shaggy foot. It became available during February 2026 in one extra large size of 6 x 60, priced at $7.99 per stick. For more information, please check out thepress release. The sample Punch Egg Roll XL cigar began with an earthy flavor along with a modest dose of peppery spice. The spice was just enough to compliment the earthy taste, and the smoke was medium bodied. It took almost 10 minutes for the burn line from the shaggy foot to reach the wrapper, and the transition was seamless. The burn remained even and the flame from my torch lighter never touched the wrapper leaf. After the wrapper kicked in, the taste became even more earthy with the spice becoming less noticeable, and eventually moving more into the background. The flavor was now a bit fuller but the body remained in the medium range. The cigar was well-balance and not at all overpowering, and remained enjoyable for the duration of the smoking session. I ashed the Egg Roll for the first time about 30 minutes after lighting up. The cigar continued to hold a long ash and had a mostly even burn. The draw was very good draw and provided a nice volume of smoke. No relights were needed during the 90 minutes that it took me to smoke all the way down to 1½ inches remaining, with one minor touch-up being applied at the 50-minute mark. After finishing the cigar, I removed the band to discover a message on the inside that read:“The secret to happiness is a well-timed nap & a cigar, just not together.”This was almost like reading something that you'd find inside of a Chinese fortune cookie. I enjoyed the Punch Egg Roll XL cigar from start to finish, and rate it with a very good 4 points on a 5-point scale. It is certainly a lot of cigar for the $7.99 price, and I consider it to be both a very good value and a great way to get the Year of the Horse off to a running start. Happy New Year!

The shaggy foot offers up some earth, chocolate, sugar, and spice prior to hitting the wrapper, which almost immediately darkens things up. Dark chocolate, dark cherry, and a touch of coffee hits. Coffee grounds and spice coat the palate on the finish.Cocoa Pebbles starts pushing through. No complaints there. I love Cocoa Pe

I'm a bit taken back by how much I enjoyed the Punch Egg Roll. This was a well executed short robusto and just the right size to have all the notes pull through nicely. I hope General Cigar makes more renditions of this in the future. Maybe Spring Roll for next years release?
