Southern Draw Morning Glory Robusto

A flat-headed robusto with a slightly green tinge to its light wrapper. It draws and burns evenly, imparting notes of cinnamon, graham cracker and savory herbs that mingle with milder impressions of straw, hay and an underlying nuttiness. The finish is long and savory.

More and more these days, I think we at halfwheel are evaluating how the blend is put together and not how it is created. I believe the reason why this score is as low as it is has nothing to do with what profile Southern Draw asked the factory to make, the tobaccos that the factory chose or how those tobaccos were grown and processed. I’m pretty sure it’s because of how the third cigar was bunched, i.e. how the blend is literally put together. At a certain point, the draw is bad enough that there’s nothing that can overcome that. Unfortunately, it’s a point I find all too often in reviews. As for the other two cigars, they were fine, but it’s difficult for me to believe that they are memorable. I’d spend a couple more dollars and upgrade to the Rose of Sharon, which also has a light wrapper, but I find it packs a lot more flavor.
