The Warped Chinchalle was first talked about at PCA 2021, but due to supply chain issues, wasn’t there in person. They delay continued until September of 2021 when it shipped to retailers. This is the first Warped cigar rolled in the Dominican Republic. It also happens to be made at a relatively new factory that has some buzz around it, Tabacalera La Isla in Santiago, Dominican Republic run by Hostos Fernandez, nephew of Manuel Quesada. This is also the factory that makes the Matilde Limited Exposure No. 1 that scored very highly in our blind review. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The blend uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, Dominican HVA binder, and Dominican fillers. It comes in just one size, a 5 x 50 robusto. The price tag runs $12.50 and the cigar comes packed in boxes of 25. This is a regular production blend.

Made with a round head and oily wrapper, this robusto has an open draw and even burn. Bold, earthy notes of spicy licorice and leather are balanced by hints of maple syrup and herbs.

I was very excited to see how Warped would utilize non Aganorsa tobaccos. After smoking the Warped Chinchalle, it's honestly a big let down. This is basically everything I hate about a cigar: acrid, bitter and sharp. I sure hope it gets better from here. Given my lack of enjoyment, it can really only go up from here.
