It's been fun watching Aganorsa's lineup gradually evolve over the past few years, beginning with a name change and a new logo, and slowly ekeing its way through the company's vast portfolio of premium cigars. The JFR Lunatic Torch is the latest such example, spurring newfound interest in a blend that first debuted in 2016. Personally, it is the first time I acquainted myself with the line, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if this applied to the majority of enthusiasts. Named for the torch-like appearance of the cigar's foot, the initial draw is to experience and judge for yourself the changes the cigar's profile undergoes as the wrapper takes effect. In my experience, this is subtle but noticeable, polishing the already-enjoyable profile with a more clean and distinct sweetness, as well as tightening up the construction. This is a medium-bodied experience through and through, with the cigar's first half being the reason to return. This portion boasted highlight flavors that were overall milky in character, including nuances of horchata, vanilla candy, and demerara sugar. Although the second half loses the sweetness, it's still an enjoyable experience that should find a nice home in the Aganorsa Leaf portfolio.

There are lots of good terms to bestow on a cigar, but few carry as much weight to me as "I'd really enjoy another." The low nicotine and progression of balanced flavors of the JFR Lunatic Shaggy Foot Torch are the hallmarks of this cigar, while the overall technical performance keeps distractions to a minimum, relegated mainly to some flaky ash. Fire up one and you might just find yourself in the same predicament I found myself, seeing if I could carve out time for another.
