Just before the 2018 IPCPR Trade Show, Alec Bradley Cigars announced it was releasing a “mystery cigar” at the trade show. It used to be common for many companies to wait for the trade show to unveil their offerings, but with the rise of more media channels, many companies now choose to make announcements prior to IPCPR […] Key flavors: Coffee, Earth, Bing Cherry, Red and White Pepper.

Blind Man's Puff · Mar 29, 2024 · September 2023
Last September Forged Cigar Co. released the latest addition to its portfolio, the Alec Bradley Magic Toast Fifth Anniversary, a special release commemorating five years of the Magic Toast line. First introduced in 2018 and making an early appearance in 2016 (because of impending FDA regulartion), this line has consistently caught the attention of cigar smokers, especially with its backstory involving Alec Bradley ‘s Alan Rubin and Ralph Montero’s impromptu toast in a Honduran tobacco field. This moment, highlighting the exceptional quality of the crop, inspired the Magic Toast name and the blend itself incorporates tobacco from that memorable visit, alongside selections from Nicaragua. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The Fifth Anniversary edition showcases a blend that’s crafted to mark this milestone. It features a Honduran maduro wrapper from the Trojes region, complemented by a dual binder of Honduran and Nicaraguan criollo, and a filler blend of corojo and criollo from Honduras and Nicaragua. This combination promises a rich and complex smoking experience, offered in a single 7 x 54 double robusto size, reflecting its premium nature. Priced at $14.49 per cigar, it represents both the quality and the exclusivity of the offering, with production limited to 2,000 boxes. Produced by Fábrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas S. de R.L. in Danlí, Honduras, this release is not only a celebration of the Magic Toast line’s journey but also a limited opportunity for enthusiasts to experience a blend that’s been five years in the making.

Veiny and box-pressed with a full, substantial draw and uneven burn. Salty at first, big notes of black cherry and leather emerge, but turn slightly acidic. Additional touches of peanut and mint linger on the finish. The tobacco tastes a bit young.

The Alec Bradley Magic Toast Box Pressed Gran Toro has a lot of positive attributes to offer: the first and third portions are impressively rich and complex, and the journey from first puff is one that keeps the palate engaged and on its proverbial toes. The second third is marred only by the flavors getting a bit too individualistic, which while still plenty enjoyable, costs the cigar its complexity. Construction and combustion, while good, weren't perfect. Two samples showed some combustion issues in their second halves and each sample struggled to maintain an even burn line. All that said, the Alec Bradley Magic Toast Box Pressed Gran Toro is still an enjoyable experience, and one that I would suggest fans of the line try in comparison to the vitolas they smoke more regularly. But regardless of whether or not you've smoked the Magic Toast before, I think this vitola provides a pretty solid experience.

Holt's Staff Reviews · May 28, 2020
Today, I am reviewing Alec Bradley Magic Toast in a 5 x 52 Robusto. Legend has it that Alec Bradley Magic Toast was birthed in the middle of a Honduran tobacco field at night with the only light coming from a flashlight. The tobacco growing in this particular field was said to be magical and unbelievable. Company founder Alan Rubin and his longtime partner Ralph Montero cracked open a bottle of whiskey and toasted to the company’s future right there on the spot. Hence the name, Magic Toast.Read full review on Holt's Staff Reviews
Alec Bradley Magic Toast
CigarCzars · Mar 3, 2019
Magic Toast by Alec Bradley is made with a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran filler tobaccos, Nicaraguan and Honduran binders (two binders), and a dark Honduran wrapper. The cigars are available in three sizes that were widely released in 2018. The cigar sampled for this review was a Robusto (5 x 52) priced at $8.95 per single stick. I got mine from the sons of Alan Rubin,Alec and Bradley Rubin, for whom the company was named. The brothers were handing them out atThe Great Smokecigar event during February 2019. The Magic Toast Robusto began with an initial taste of pepper, which quickly faded into the background. The cigar was medium-to-full bodied, and had a very enjoyable flavor for the first 20-25 minutes. The taste was smooth and creamy and just a bit nutty. Hints of natural tobacco sweetness were also present. However, before the half-way point, the taste became more leathery as the cigar got noticeably stronger. I enjoyed the first half of this cigar much more than the last half, as a solid 4.25-point flavor at the beginning tapered off to 3 points (on a 5-point scale) by the end. The Magic Toast cigar had a good draw, held a medium-to-long ash, and had a decent burn that did require a few touch-ups during the one hour that it took me to smoke the Robusto-size cigar down to two inches remaining. In addition, a relight was also needed when the cigar went out just after the halfway point. Overall, I rate this cigar with 3.5 points on a 5-point scale. It's a good cigar for the price, and you don't have to continue smoking it all the way down if the flavor starts heading south.

The Alec Bradley Magic Toast Robusto brings the spiciness of the Black Market with nuances and flavor complexity that last all the way to the nub. Once the initial spice intensity fades, the cigar establishes a sweet and chocolate profile.
