Alec Bradley Cigars Project 40 Maduro

Ranked in our Best Cheap Cigars Under $5 Guide

The dessert-like maduro sibling to the original happiness project, Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro is rolled at J. Fuego Cigar Co. in Nicaragua. Wrapped in an oily Mexican San Andrés Maduro leaf atop a Nicaraguan core, this medium-to-full-bodied smoke treats the palate to aromatic cedar, rich fertile earth, warm baking spices, roasted nuts, and walnut.

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 05.50

Stogie Press · Feb 18, 2021

In October of 2020, Alec Bradley Cigars added an an extension to the Experimental Series Project 40 line – this time with a maduro wrapper. The project 40 Maduro continues to represent Alec Bradley founder, Alan Rubin’s belief that cigars create a positive impact on both mind and body. ‘Project 40’ is the name for Read more about Cigar Review: Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 05.50 – Rated 92[…]

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 05.50

Cigar Aficionado · Oct 1, 2021

An inky-hued robusto with a round head and excellent draw. The smoke calls to mind a brownie with its fudgy notes of dark chocolate and walnut, but also layers the palate with elements of leather, coconut and earth before a finish that smacks of black licorice.

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 05.50

Cigar Coop · May 13, 2021

In 2019 Alec Bradley launched its Experimental Series line and its first cigar known as the Alec Bradley Project 40. It would be a change of pace cigar for a couple of reasons. First, it would become the first Alec Bradley Cigar to come out of Jesus Fuego’s factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Fuego is […] Key flavors: Cocoa, Earth, Dried Fruit, Cedar, White Pepper, Baker’s Spice.

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 05.50

Halfwheel · Jan 16, 2021 · Nov. 26, 2020

I am always a bit leery of new blends that do nothing more than change out a wrapper on an existing cigar in order to make a different creation, and that feeling was only accentuated by the fact that I really enjoyed the Project 40 quite a bit. What I found was a profile that was not nearly as sweet nor as complex as its predecessor, but one that was still quite enjoyable in a number of ways. That includes a dominant dark chocolate and cedar combination in the profile as well as the construction, which was absolutely fantastic with a close to perfect draw and a burn line that very rarely wavered from a straight line on each of the three samples I smoked. In the end, while I did not like the Project 40 Maduro as much as the original release, Alec Bradley has done a great job of giving fans two distinct flavor profiles to choose from, both of which carry a very attractive price point.

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro Robusto

Blind Man's Puff · Apr 26, 2021 · October 2020

Last October, Alec Bradley Cigar Co. announced a maduro version of their value line Project 40: Project 40 Maduro. Project 40 is a part of the company’s ‘Experimental Series’ of which there are expected to be more releases. The original Project 40 06.52 scored a 92 in our blind test. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The name for Project 40 comes from a scientific concept used to help determine and influence a person’s mindfulness and happiness. Company founder Alan Rubin believes the soothing influence of premium cigars are fulfilling to cigar smokers and causes tranquility and the feeling of being in control. The Project 40 Maduro is the next chapter in that journey. Rubin has stated that a premium cigar with the right blend and price tag is the key to happiness. The blend fo Project 40 Maduro blend uses a Mexican San Andres wrapper, Brazilian Habano binder and all Nicaraguan filler. Each size sells for under $7.00 which includes 05.50 (5 x 50) MSRP $5.75 per cigar, 06.52 (6 x 52) MSRP $6.25 per cigar, and 06.60 (6 X 60) MSRP $6.50 per cigar. Both current Project 40 cigars are rolled at J Fuego Cigar Co De Nicaragua in Estelí.

Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 5.50

Developing Palates · Mar 15, 2021 · November 2020

The Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro 5.50 is a solid offering and more memorable to me than the original Project 40. It is a nice and enjoyable blend that is affordable and approachable as well. It is not overly complex, but it delivers a decent profile from start to finish.
