Ashton ESG is a superb example of an authentic Dominican Puro. “ESG” stands for “Estate Sun Grown,” which is in reference to the cigar’s glistening, brown-sugar-hued wrapper leaf – a varietal that is grown from Cuban seeds on a select Fuente family estate in the Dominican Republic under the watchful eye of cigar-making legend Carlito Fuente. “Puro” refers to cigars that are handmade from tobaccos originating from a single nation, or region. All of the tobaccos utilized in Ashton ESG are procured from prized Fuente family fields at the renowned Chateau de la Fuente.

Ashton ESG 23 Year Salute

The 23 Year Salute is the toro vitola in the ESG line. The ESG is made at the Fuente factory in Dominican Republic. It also uses a Dominican sun grown wrapper that is exclusive and unique to the ESG line of cigars. ESG was released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Ashton brand and is a Dominican Puro. The toro vitola was released in 2010. Pricing is around $20/stick, but in my experience this is one of those cigars where the premium price is really worth it.
