Camacho Nicaragua Robusto
Cigar Aficionado · Jan 1, 2021
Forget for a moment that the Camacho Nicaragua is made in Honduras and only contains some Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler. Instead, focus on the fact that Camacho Nicaragua is the finest Camacho released in years. Composed of a four-country blend, the cigar came out last summer and joins the extensive, color-coded Camacho portfolio. Since Davidoff acquired Camacho from the Eiroa family in 2008, the cigars have been repackaged with bold fonts and bright colors. The robusto starts off leathery with zesty bursts of red and white pepper underscored by a chocolate-and-vanilla sweetness. It’s not as Nicaraguan as the name suggests, but it’s one of the best cigars we smoked all year.

In terms of new regular production releases, the brands of Davidoff have been relatively quiet with most of the focus around limited editions. In 2020, Davidoff would unveil its product roadmap for the year and one line announced was Camacho Nicaragua. Camacho Nicaragua was the one release on the 2020 Davidoff product roadmap that would […] Key flavors: Natural Tobacco, Coffee Bean, Citrus, White Pepper, Metallic Notes.

Halfwheel · Sep 2, 2020 · July 20, 2020
My issue with the naming aside, the Camacho Nicaragua is quite enjoyable, albeit with fewer characteristics of the county it was named after than most people will probably expect. As is the case with the Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel Aged, the blend is creamy and sweet, but with a bit more bite on the finish thanks to a pervasive espresso bitterness. In two out of the three of the cigars, that note that creates some balance issues. Construction across all three samples was excellent in just about every regard other than two quick touchups in the second third on two separate samples. In the end, Camacho can call the Camacho Nicaragua any name it pleases, but I will call it a very good cigar.

This was a very enjoyable cigar to smoke and will become part of my regular rotation. Camacho did a nice job of making this cigar unique to its name in the core line. I still feel that naming this cigar Nicaragua was a little bit of a stretch, but the profile doesn't lie. I feel it is named for the experience it gives you, not necessarily the tobacco it is constructed of. Had I smoked it blind, Camacho would not have been a consideration. Performance-wise, Davidoff has never been a company to let cigar smokers down, and this is definitely a job well done expanding the portfolio.

Developing Palates · Nov 25, 2020 · July 2020
The Camacho Nicaragua Robusto showcases some of the better flavor components from Nicaraguan tobacco. Rather than overpower you with spice and pepper, the cigar offers up baking spices, creaminess and sweetness that kept me engaged throughout the review experience. I will still continue to smoke these when I have the opportunity.
