What happens when you have access to incredible tobacco and don’t want to use it in event only cigars that really don’t sell? The Mi Querida Triqui Traca is an offshoot of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust’s original Mi Querida line. You can tell them apart by the band color, as the original Mi Querida is navy and gold while the Triqui Traca is garnet and gold. Brand owner Steve Saka has employed catchy and memorable names for all of his DTT brands, although many are difficult to pronounce for non-Spanish speakers. Mi Querida (pronounced me kay-ree-dah) is a term commonly used to mean “my mistress” while Triqui Traca (pronoun

Kaplowitz · Nov 6, 2020
Hickory | Red spices | Coffee Wood. Hickory w/ a haunting thereafter seasoned cedar. Takes spices a draw or two to develop, then smoked paprika, cumin, cinnamon nethers. Cayenne like a mofo via progression. A sweetness balances well; a thin molasses, cola thing. Coffee structures dryly, full city roasted beans. Focused near piercingly-so. Heighty but well-weighted, anchored. Anchored in earth, a darkly roasted umami-triggering top-soil. Teriyaki beef jerky, particularly on the bittersweet finish

If there is one thing Steve Saka has been known for throughout his career it’s creating offshoot blends from his tried and true lines. We’ve seen this while he was at Drew Estate when he created the Undercrown Corona ¡Viva! line as well as some of the Liga Privada Unica Serie line. When he formed Dunbarton […] Key flavors: Chocolate/Cocoa, Blackberry, Earth, Red Pepper.

Blind Man's Puff · Jun 24, 2022 · December 2021
The original Mi Querida came out in 2016 and was the sophomore release for Steve Saka ‘s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. This was also his highly anticipated first released outside of Drew Estate to use Connecticut broadleaf, as his first release, Sobremesa, was a Habano blend. The name Mi Querida roughly translates from Spanish to “My Mistress.” In 2018 the Mi Querida line got a spinoff for United Cigars as their annual Firecracker release, in which the blend was tweaked to be stronger and in their signature 3 1/2 x 50 vitola with a fuse cap. Only 500 boxes of 20 of those Firecrackers were made and the success of that line drew Saka to turn that blend into a regular production cigar of his own which would be called the Mi Querida Triqui Traca. The Triqui Traca addition comes from the Nicaraguan term used to describe firecrackers that have been tied together. The Mi Querida Triqui Traca launched in two sizes, No. 552 (5 x 52) and No. 648 (6 x 48). In 2020, Saka added two new regular production sizes: No. 652 (6 x 52) and No. 764 (7 x 64). Finally in December of last year, a fifth size was added, being the smallest and the closest to the original Firecracker size: No. 448 (4 x 48). This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 448 blend uses a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and fillers. The cigars are rolled, like the original Mi Querida line, at the Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. (NACSA) factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Each Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 448 has an MSRP of $8.95 per cigar.

The Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 448 started well with rich flavors. The second third lost some complexity and added a cardboard note which dropped the profile down a level, but the final third picked back up in enjoyment. Definitely a cigar I'd be up for smoking more of.
