Cigar Aficionado · Jun 1, 2018
A well-made figurado with a lush draw and even burn. Walnut and earth notes are elevated by hints of raisin and a bright cedar finish.

This reminded me of some of the La Auroras of yesteryear. Before the attempt at Untamed, La Aurora produced medium-bodied, full-flavored cigars that were smooth and balanced. There were other things in the portfolio, but I started smoking the brand when 100 Años was on its way out and 107 Aniversario and Guillermo León—the cigar, not the person—were on their way in. This is very much that and that’s a good thing. The price tag is tough to swallow, but the end result is good, albeit not great.

At Tobacco Plus Expo (TPE) 2022, La Aurora Cigars would introduce a new offering known as the La Aurora Especiales. This was the culmination of what La Aurora Cigars has described as a six-year project working with some of its key retail partners. During this project, La Aurora solicited input from about 100 retailers who […] Key flavors: Orange Peel, Earth, Natural Tobacco, Wood, Cedar, Pepper.

I felt this was a more modern Cameroon release from La Aurora and the Dominican Republic. Yes, it is using an Ecuadorian Cameroon wrapper and not an authentic African Cameroon, but the cigar has more strength, body and darker flavors than a lot of past Cameroon releases from the company. The almond, cream, currant and Chinese spice notes were great together.
