A well appointed/behaved cigar. Draw wobbles-some re: tension, but satiates smoke-hole always. Burn requires a re-touch, lightly-so. Notes of pepper, leather, and earth; top-to-bottom. Semi-sweet chocolate, rich coffee, pecan, creme brulee, alfalfa, black cherry -- all hither and thither and mainly in that order. Verily complex, via nuance not transition.

Crafted to look like a mini wedge, this dark cigar has a notably firm draw, though each puff is full of pepper and spice that become hearty with leather and more intense as the cigar smokes. Impressive power and balance.

As I mentioned in my review of the Mystery , I find quite a few of Gomez's blends to be overwhelmingly strong, and that strength tends to drown out some of the nuances and balance that I know are in the cigars. After six years of age, this blend is the exact opposite of that: extremely complex, extremely balanced, extremely smooth and with absolutely phenomenal construction. They have aged very well, and in my opinion, there needs to be more made, post haste. For me, this may well be the best cigar Litto Gomez has ever produced under the La Flor Dominicana name.

The La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Natural Chisel had a nice start, with a smooth combination of flavors. It took a step down in the second third as the pepper moved around a fair amount and maintained that level the rest of the way. I really enjoy the Chisel head, but the cigar wasn't all that interesting past the first third. I don't see myself really coming back to this cigar.
