JRE Aladino Cameroon Queens Perfecto

At this year’s PCA Trade Show, JRE Tobacco Company added two new vitolas to their Aladino Cameroon line: Queens Perfecto 5 1/4 x 46 and Gordo 6 1/2 x 60. The JRE Aladino Cameroon was released in 2020 and scored a 92 in our blind testing. The blend uses a Cameroon wrapper grown in Honduras at the JRE Tobacco Farm with seeds acquired by the Eiroa family. The rest of the blend uses Honduran Corojo binder and filler. JRE Aladino Cameroon Queens Perfecto and JRE Aladino Cameroon Gordo come in boxes of 20. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The JRE Aladino Cameroon Queens Perfecto is the same vitola that the company uses in their Aladino Connecticut line. All the Aladino line’s cigars are rolled at Fabrica de Puros Aladino at Las Lomas Jamastran.

Aladino Cameroon Robusto

More sophisticated than it appears, this, rustic-looking robusto draws and burns evenly, immediately showing intense notes of walnut, cedar and spice. Hints of cinnamon and black pepper lead to a more pronounced finish of cinnamon and golden raisins.

After smoking my first Aladino Cameroon Lancero, I loved it so much I went out and bought box of them for myself, something that does not happen very often at all. Although it is not quite on that level, the Gordo is a very, very good cigar due to the profile full of sourdough bread, hay, peanuts and cedar combined with brown sugar sweetness and red pepper on the retrohale. Construction was excellent overall and while the medium-full strength was a bit of a surprise, it is well-integrated with the rest of the profile. In the end, the Aladino Cameroon Gordo is not only a great addition to the company’s lineup but also one of the better cigars I have smoked from the company and well worth taking the time to track down for yourself.

Aladino Cameroon Lonsdale

JRE is crushing it with the Aladino line. So much so that they just changed their Instagram handle to @aladinocigars. This is their flagship line, and it’s impressive from top to bottom. The Corojo Reserva leads the way for Aladino, but the Cameroon is a strong player in that lineup. It is a flavorful and unique blend that is climbing up the charts in my personal rankings. JRE is definitely on the upswing.

The JRE Aladino Cameroon Lonsdale has to be one of the best cigars I've smoked and reviewed during 2020. The first third is a harmonized and complex list of flavors that kept my palate highly engaged. The rest of the cigar wasn't as complex, but still good with enjoyable flavor combinations. Burn and construction were great on the cigar, no doubt elevating the smoking experience.
