Alec Bradley Post Embargo Blend Code B15 Robusto

Blind Man's Puff · Apr 8, 2024 · September 2023

Last year, Alec Bradley reintroduced its Post Embargo line with the new Blend Code B15. The revival marks a return to the line’s roots with a refreshed look and formula, initially launched in 2015 and designed to evoke the era after the U.S. embargo on Cuba. The latest iteration includes a Honduran Trojes criollo -seed wrapper, dual binders from Honduras —one from Jamastran corojo-seed and another from Trojes criollo -seed—and a blend of fillers featuring Honduran Jamastran corojo, Trojes criollo, and Nicaraguan criollo from Jalapa. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. This line continues to be produced by Raíces Cubana in Honduras and maintains its status as a regular production offering. It features three sizes, each with a pigtail cap: Gordo (6 x 60), Robusto (5 x 52), and Toro (6 x 52), priced competitively within the market. The Post Embargo Blend Code B15 not only seeks to offer a unique smoking experience but also serves as a nod to what could have been, utilizing the original envisioned packaging and maintaining the line’s celebratory ethos as articulated by Bradley Rubin at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show.

Cigar Aficionado · Aug 1, 2017

The wrapper of this long, thin cigar gleams with oil. Savory notes of leather and briny olive take on a malty earthiness before a sweet finish redolent of chocolate-covered raisins.
