La Aurora has always been known for being super-Dominican. They even released a cigar in 2017 asserting their Dominican DNA. Last year the factory embarked upon a journey to find the best tobaccos from all over the globe in a collection they call Tobaccos of the World. The 107 Nicaragua is the first installment of this set.

I am guessing that if I asked La Aurora what its goals were in terms of this cigar, it would be something like “retain parts of the regular 107 flavor, but add a Nicaraguan flare.” To some degree, it nailed that task. This is a bit stronger than the regular La Aurora 107, attributed to what most people would say “is the Nicaraguan tobacco.” It does, however, remind me a lot of the regular La Aurora 107, which is another part of the task. I’m not sure I taste that much of the Nicaraguan tobacco. If you told me there was no Nicaraguan tobacco in the fillers, I would be less surprised than I am remembering this is entirely Nicaraguan tobacco. Regardless, this is another good new cigar from La Aurora, who seems to have found its footing from where it was about seven or eight years ago.

A slightly reddish, dark robusto with even combustion. The substantial draw delivers a smoke that’s peppery at first, but settles to show notes of coffee bean, almond, cedar and leather with a finish that hints of nougat.
