Macanudo Vintage Maduro 2013 Robusto

Blind Man's Puff · Apr 29, 2024 · July 2023

Last year, General Cigar Co. introduced the Macanudo Vintage Maduro 2013, adding to its series of vintage cigars. This particular edition featured a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper that was harvested in the favorable climate of the Connecticut River Valley in 2013. According to Ernest Gocaj, who oversees the company’s growing operations in Connecticut, the year 2013 was notable for its optimal growing conditions, which included high temperatures and significant rainfall, enhancing the quality of the broadleaf tobacco. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. This tobacco was then subjected to a thorough eight-week curing process to ensure the leaves developed their full flavor profile. The binder used in these cigars comes from Honduras, and the filler blend includes Dominican Piloto Cubano, Brazilian Mata Fina, and Nicaraguan tobacco from Jalapa, carefully selected to complement the robust wrapper. The Macanudo Vintage Maduro 2013 was released in three sizes: the 5-inch by 50 ring gauge Robusto, the 6 by 54 Toro Grande, and the 7 by 49 Churchill. These cigars were produced at the General Cigar Dominicana factory and celebrates the legacy of the Macanudo Vintage line, which dates back to 1988.

Macanudo Maduro Diplomat

Cigar Aficionado · Oct 1, 2004

A lovely little perfecto with a nice draw. It’s sweet, rich and nutty, with a wheaty core and a toasty finish smacking of anise. Medium bodied.

Macanudo Maduro -

Kaplowitz · Oct 25, 2017

A lowly-played white-noise delivery of soft oh-so soft notes. Old lady perfumed powder, floral. Cocoa butter fleetingly, then semi-sweet chocolate hangs ‘bout. Lemon pepper with a growing-smooth black pepper retro-hale. Suede/earthen under-belly. Sharpens slightly with a citrusy Americano addition at nigh half-point. Well-rolled with tight seams and excellent draw. Burns a tick moistly-so and top-leaf threatens a lag. No re-touchings are mandated. Nicely and roundly-balanced, nice ‘nuff of nuanc

Macanudo Maduro

Holt's Staff Reviews · Dec 6, 2024

Macanudo is one of the most recognizable brands in the cigar industry. Today I’m smoking an original blend in the lineup, Macanudo Maduro, in a 5.5-by-49 Robusto called Hyde Park. Macanudo Maduro is an old-school smoke that’s held a spot in retail shops for decades alongside the iconic Macanudo Café. Macanudo is one of the first brands new cigar lovers try because it’s mild and available almost everywhere cigars are sold. When the brand debuted in 1968, Macanudo was originally made in Jamaica. It wasn’t available in the U.S.

MACANUDO VINTAGE MADURO 2013

Comedy Cigars Music · Oct 1, 2023

Perfect draw with a heavy, voluminous smoke output. And what’s in that draw? Coffee, earth, cocoa, leather, almond, citrus, and the slightest touch of white pepper spice.A softer, more subdued fruit drops through the nose with some of that white pepper spice. Leather decays quickly on the finish, leavin

Macanudo Vintage Maduro 2013 Robusto

Developing Palates · Jul 26, 2024 · July 2023

The Macanudo Vintage Maduro 2013 Robusto had a promising start with balanced and restrained flavors in the first third. The second third almost reached the same level of complexity but unfortunately fell just short. I found the last third to be fairly flat compared to the rest of the cigar. Overall, I found the Macanudo Vintage Maduro 2013 Robusto to be quite pleasant to review, and despite the overall score I think it's something I could see myself occasionally smoking.
