Undercrown Corona ¡Viva! by Drew Estate

Undercrown Corona ¡Viva! by Drew Estate Back when we did our Top 30 Cigars of 2011, the biggest question we got was: “Undercrown” – only an honorable mention?   This seemed a little surprising because we when did a pre-review of the Undercrown Toro, it did so well.  However, it’s important to know that our Top […]

Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Corona Pequeña

Blind Man's Puff · Jun 16, 2021 · February 2020

Drew Estate brought a new size of Undercrown Maduro and Shade blends to TPE 2020, a 4 x 44 Corona Pequeña. The new size uses the same blends as their larger counterparts which, for the Maduro, includes a Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper, Connecticut Stalk Cut and Sun cured Habano binder, and Brazilian and Nicaraguan fillers. This cigar was reviewed blind (no bands) by a panel of at least 4 reviewers. They did not know what they were smoking beforehand. The scores are an average of all the reviewers' scores with outliers removed. All of our cigars reviewed are shipped to the panelists with Boveda packs to ensure optimal smoking experience. The Undercrown Maduro Corona Pequeña was designed to be a shorter smoke for the winter months. They come in unique boxes of 32 cigars that sell for $176 a box.

Undercrown Corona ¡Viva!

Halfwheel · Aug 27, 2012 · April 2012

It's not a carbon copy from before, but it's no less of a cigar. While I will be interested to see the long-term aging qualities of Undercrown—particularly given what seems like a definitive lifespan for Liga Privada —the Corona ¡Viva! is good. It's hard to say that it's a much better cigar now, but it's much different and no worse—which is a great progression.

An imposing Churchill with a dark wrapper that foreshadows the cigar’s rich, precise notes of dark chocolate and licorice. The licorice notes recede a bit for a heavier, denser cocoa finish. Both the draw and burn are even.

Undercrown Flying Pig

Cigar Dojo · May 13, 2015

While the Undercrown isn’t too complex, it does have a range of flavors that are full and are sure to please any palate. I think next time I need to focus a little bit more on the wood and vanilla interchanging notes, the moments that I did notice them, I found them really enjoyable. Be on the lookout for this profile if you get a chance.

Drew Estate Undercrown - Cigar Review Redux

Kaplowitz · Jul 16, 2017

Picture it: Eugene, Oregon. 2017. I'm smoking a nigh flawlessly constructed cigar offering. Its combustion is wonderfully-paced and even. Notes are an oaken bowl fulla mocha latte, stirred with a strip a' pepper'd beef jerky. Leathery barnyard under-belly. Completely enjoyable, this Undercrown. Humsoever and under critical gaze, it doth lack-some in complexities and balance. Its finish drops off the table with a slight diesel-y wake. All told, its smoke-abilty is quite high. I can well-live off

Liga Undercrown by Drew Estate

Holt's Staff Reviews · May 6, 2021

I am reviewing the original version of Liga Undercrown by Drew Estate in a 5 x 54 Robusto format. Drew Estate is one of the more interesting companies in the cigar business. The company is not founded by a family with Cuban roots or centuries of cigar-making tradition in its history. But, the Drew Estate backstory is equally fascinating.

Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Corona Pequeña

Developing Palates · May 11, 2020 · February 2020

Smoking the Drew Estate Undercrown Maduro Corona Pequeña has resurrected my interest in the brand, and I will definitely be smoking some of the original vitolas the next time I go to the shop. This is a terrific small cigar and great for when you don't have much smoking time. There is a lot of flavor in the cigar and the second third is magnificent.
